Elgin Middle School Moving Day

Sixth Grade Building Open for Class!

6th GradeWhew!!! What an exciting day at EMS!!!  Our sixth grade has officially moved into our new sixth grade building and our students and staff are so proud of their beautiful building.  We started the day off cleaning out old lockers and moving all of our school supplies over to the new lockers.  Our middle school is very fortunate to have been adopted by the 100th Brigade Support Battalion.  At 9:00 a.m. this morning approximately fifteen soldiers arrived on campus to assist us in the move.  By 11:00 a.m. everything needed for each classroom was in the new building.  Our soldiers did a FANTASTIC job and we are very thankful for their dedication to our school and all of their hard work.

We all gathered in the cafeteria, around the OWL, to commemorate the first class in the new building with a group photo.  Students toured the building by completing a shortened daily schedule so everyone would know where to go each hour of the day.  Our teachers will remain late this evening to complete the organization and preparations for classes on Monday.

Some of our seventh grade classes had the chance to move too!  Mrs. Mills, Mrs. Justice and Mrs. Biles moved up the hall to rooms 16, 4 and 3, respectively.
I am overwhelmed with pride and excitement as we finish our day at EMS, and look forward to the days ahead.  A HUGE THANK YOU to all of those involved in making this day possible.  We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our sixth grade building!
