Several Elgin students recently competed at the USAO interscholastic meet, as well as the Cameron University scholastic meet. 

    At the USAO meet, Elgin placed in eight different categories.  This meet is a larger contest, and it is a great honor to medal at this event.  In the category of World History, Andrew Rieper placed 2nd, while Dylan Shadoan and Ian Templeton placed 1st and 2nd, respectively, in the category of Music Fundamentals.  Senior Austin Sadler placed 4th in Sociology.  In the French I category, Kelly Knapp placed 2nd, while Senior Tyler Ray placed 3rd in Art Talent.  Lastly, Jodie Bare and Dallas Strong placed 1st as a pair, in the category of Drama.

    Elgin also brought home several honors from the Cameron Interscholastic Meet held on April 12th.  In fact, the Owls brought home 28 medals from this event.   In Spanish I, Kayelin Font placed 3rd, while Haley Hampton placed 3rd in Spanish II.  In the category of Advanced Spanish, Zach Bordeaux placed 3rd, while Trianna Gutzman placed 5th.  In Yearbook Fundamentals, Senior Krista Pylant placed 1st, while Senior Tyler Ray placed 4th in the category of Drawing.   In addition, Ashlyn Lundholm placed 3rd in Monologue.  Brycin Brown brought home 4th in Advance Biology as well.  In Algebra II, Freshman Haley Hampton placed 1st.  Several students placed in French as well.  In French I, Kelly Knapp placed 3rd, while Leann Bay placed 5th.  In French II, Robby Day placed 4th, while Aspen Wright won 1st in the French II category.  Andrew Rieper placed 2nd in World History, while Victoria White placed 2nd in Sociology.  In the music categories, Kayelin Font placed 2nd in Woodwind Solo, while Samantha Dillman placed 4th.  Senior Kaylee Sullivan also placed 5th in Voice Solo. 

    Andrew Rieper placed 2nd in American History also.  In Chemistry, Type I, Dylan Shadoan placed 2nd, while Daniel Rivera placed 3rd in Computer Literacy.  Joseph Templeton placed 5th in Geometry, and Senior Austin Swain placed 2nd in Introduction to Business.  In the category of Psychology, Elgin brought home two medals, with Samuel York placing 2nd and Vanessa Camacho placing 5th.  In the category of American Literature, Devin Prochniak placed 5th as well.  In Anatomy and Physiology, Jentry Holt placed 3rd and Megan Magness placed 4th.
