Teacher of the Year
Janda Named Teacher of the Year for Elgin Public Schools

Mrs. Lori Janda, Senior English teacher at Elgin High School, received the high honor of Teacher of the Year for Elgin Public Schools.  Lori has been teaching at Elgin since 2007 and has taught English I and English IV, as well as the elective, Reading for Pleasure.  She is married to Clint Janda, and they have two boys, Cade and Logan, that attend school in the Elgin district.  She is a graduate of Frederick High School and Cameron University.
Mrs. Janda is actively involved on campus, sponsoring and assisting with several clubs and organizations.  She involves herself as a class sponsor, tutoring, as well as being the sponsor for Link Crew, a student-led mentorship program.  In addition, Lori is on several district committees:  Gifted and Talented, Common Core Transition, and Professional Development.  Lori has not become an outstanding teacher by mere chance; instead, she continuously attends workshops and training to stay abreast of current teaching methods and organizational practices of great classroom teachers.  Principal Curtis Lorah commented: “Lori is such a great classroom teacher; she has influenced so many students throughout these years, and the high standards that she sets makes our students very well prepared for college; she is one of our greatest assets in the high school.”
When asked why Lori wants to work for Elgin Public Schools, she commented: “It’s important to me to work in the community in which I live.  The bonus is that I live in a community with an awesome school district.  I love getting to be a part of all the great things that happen in our school and in our town.”  Janda also expressed the enjoyment she experiences working with such great colleagues: “ I look to my colleagues for guidance, collaboration, and advice, and I am fortunate to have them.”

Congratulations to Mrs. Lori Janda for this outstanding honor, and thank you for all of your continual hard work.
